![]() Entry is $5 at the us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter Students of the Heartwood Home Learners prepare for their medieval faire at the Errington Hall on Saturday, May 4. Come dressed in medieval costume and be entered to win a prize. It begins at noon with a maypole dance, followed by a procession to the Errington Hall. The faire is in conjunction with the first Errington Farmer’s Market of the season. The medieval faire is a fundraising event that will go towards future term activities. “They studied a day in the life and all created their own character, so at the they will all be acting out the character that they studied.” “They all did their own costume design,” Elgood said. RELATED: VIDEO: May Pole dancing at opening of Errington Farmers’ Market The students have also been learning about medieval style baking and they will offer homemade bread and jam during the faire. “Our last terms we did a circus school and the time before that we did a wizard school, the theme was this term,” Elgood said. The students range in age from five to 13 and participate together one day a week learning about specific themes. “There will be troubadours walking through the event at different times, some sword play demonstrations and also some jestering.” Throughout the day, the kids will also be doing some performing with music,” said Paula Elgood, parent support. ![]() “Errington Hall will be transformed into a medieval marketplace and there will be different stalls where people can walk through and see demonstrations going on like candle making and weaving. RELATED: Open mic for children event goes March 1 in Errington The faire will be their opportunity to showcase what they’ve learnt to the public, while dressed in historic costume. Over the past school term, the students of Heartwood Home Learners have been studying the medieval ages and learning some of the activities from those times, including archery, weaving, stained glass, music and sword play. The homeschool co-operative will transform the hall back to medieval times complete with minstrels, demos, games, educational displays and more.
